Hicks Nurseries, the premier retail and wholesale garden center on Long Island, is hiring for the busy Spring season. We are seeking seasonal employees to work in our Wholesale Nursery yards, Greenhouses and Loading areas.


**Saturday availability is required for the Wholesale Labor positions**


Key Responsibilities may include:

  • Responsible for assembling, organizing, preparing, and loading sold materials for customer pick-up and delivery
  • Maintain and care for sold merchandise primarily plant material within assigned zones
  • Assist loading customer vehicles as directed.
  • Participate in customer service tasks.
  • Assist in the receiving of merchandise and maintenance of plant material inventory following established processes and procedures.
  • Safely operate relevant equipment, such as electric and vehicles, such as forklift or skid steer. (you will be trained!!)


Position Requirements:

  • Must be able to consistently lift 25-40 lbs. independently and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to handle near-constant physical activity required, including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, squeezing, and grasping.
  • Must be able to push/pull wheeled carts of 400 lbs. consistently.
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to be trained in Hicks Nurseries forklift certification required
  • Ability to be trained in Hicks Nurseries skid steer certification required.

Position Preferences

  • High school degree or equivalent
